Myofascial Release
Life is meant to be enjoyed!
What is Myofascial Release?
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a safe, gentle, and highly effective bodywork therapy designed to provide chronic pain relief by addressing the fascial system. Unlike traditional therapies that often only address symptoms, MFR delves deeper to find and release the root cause of your pain. This holistic approach helps restore balance to the entire mind-body complex, leading to lasting relief and improved quality of life.
Understanding your fascial system
Your fascia is a complex network of connective tissue that surrounds and supports your muscles, bones, organs, and nerves. It acts like a web, connecting every part of your body in a 3D matrix. When your fascia becomes restricted or tight due to trauma, stress, poor posture, or repetitive strain, it can create pain and limit your movement. MFR provides effective pain management while being safe, gentle, and non-invasive.
How Myofascial Release Works
MFR involves applying gentle, sustained pressure to targeted areas of the body to release fascial restrictions and restore normal function. Unlike traditional massage techniques, which may use oils or deep pressure that only address the surface layers, MFR focuses on deeper fascial adhesions that contribute to chronic pain.

During an MFR session, we start with a standing assessment to evaluate your body's alignment. The treatment is highly individualized, taking into account your unique fascial patterns and symptoms. Both you and your therapist actively participate in the session, with the therapist guiding the process and you providing feedback on your experience.
Why traditional therapies may not be enough
Traditional therapies often only address the symptoms of pain, like muscle spasms or joint discomfort. Myofascial Release, on the other hand, looks beyond these symptoms to identify and release the deeper fascial restrictions that are causing the pain. This approach can reveal surprising connections, such as pain in your neck causing discomfort in your lower back, and address them comprehensively. This is just a small example of the benefit of Myofascial Release for pain relief.
The MFR Experience
In MFR, we get curious about your body’s signals. We listen to where you feel pain or tightness and use gentle pressure to explore those areas. Sometimes, the source of your pain might be located in a different part of your body than where you feel it. For instance, tension in your neck could be related to restrictions in your ankle. By addressing these connections, MFR helps to alleviate pain and improve overall function, providing relief from chronic pain and effective pain management.

Healing is not always a linear process. You might notice new sensations or emotional responses after treatments, as your body begins to release long-held tensions. These insights can be valuable for understanding and addressing the underlying causes of your pain.

Scheduling Tips
To achieve the best results, multiple treatments are often necessary.
We recommend that clients stay consistent with their appointments and schedule several sessions in advance. This proactive approach helps prevent gaps in your treatment plan and ensures that you don't miss several weeks unexpectedly. Since our calendar tends to be booked 3 - 6 weeks ahead, booking multiple appointments at once is advisable.

Regular weekly sessions allow us to closely monitor your progress and discuss any changes or feedback you might have, which can help accelerate your path to reaching your goals.
