Headaches Every Day. What Can You Do?

If you’ve been dealing with headaches every day, you know how draining it can be.
Maybe they start in the afternoon.
Maybe you wake up with them already there.
Maybe they never fully go away.
You try to push through, but it wears on you.
And at some point, you start wondering… what am I missing?

Why headaches keep coming back
Most people are told headaches are caused by things like stress, posture, or dehydration.
And sometimes those things do play a role.
But if you’re having headaches every day, there’s usually something deeper going on.
Because if it were just dehydration or a bad night of sleep, it wouldn’t keep happening over and over again.
A different way to think about headaches
I know this is an old reference, but imagine a run in a pair of stockings.
Once it starts, it doesn’t just stay in one place.
It keeps moving.
It travels.
What began as a tiny snag can quickly turn into something much bigger, running up the length of the leg.
That run is a lot like pain in the body.

The headache you feel in your head is often not where the problem started.
It’s the visible part of a pattern that’s been building somewhere else.
Tension might begin in your shoulders.
Or your neck.
Or even lower in your body.
But over time, that tension can “travel,” just like a run in a stocking, until it shows up as pain in your head.
👉 Why your neck pain keeps coming back
Why nothing seems to stop it
If you only focus on the headache itself, it’s like trying to fix the top of the run without stopping it at the source.
You might get temporary relief.
But the pattern is still there, so it keeps coming back.
With a stocking, the only way to stop a run from continuing is to find where it started and place a small dot of nail polish there.
That tiny, targeted action stops the whole thing from spreading further.
How this applies to your body
Your body works in connected patterns.
Through the fascia (the connective tissue that runs throughout your body), tension in one area can affect another.
So when you’re getting headaches every day, the real question isn’t just “how do I stop the pain in my head?”
It’s:
Where is the pattern starting?
👉 Nothing helps my back pain
A different approach to daily headaches
Myofascial release looks at your body as a whole system.
Instead of chasing the symptom, we look for where the restriction or tension may be beginning.
Then we work there, using slow, sustained pressure to allow those deeper areas to release.
It’s not about forcing change.
It’s about allowing your body to let go of patterns it’s been holding.
When that underlying tension begins to release, the “run” no longer keeps traveling.
And for many people, that’s when the headaches finally begin to change.
The role of daily habits
Many of the clients I see in Oswego, Naperville, Plainfield, Yorkville, and Aurora spend long hours at a computer or looking down at their phones.
Over time, this can create:
tension in the neck and shoulders
forward head posture
reduced movement through the upper body
But just like the run in a stocking, the issue isn’t only where you feel it.
It’s how that tension pattern has developed and spread.
When to consider a different approach
If you’ve been dealing with headaches every day and nothing seems to make a lasting difference, it may be time to try a different approach.
Especially if:
your headaches keep returning
you feel constant tightness in your neck or shoulders
you’ve tried multiple approaches without lasting relief
your headaches are affecting your focus, work, or daily life
You’re not stuck
When something keeps happening day after day, it’s easy to feel like this is just how your body is now.
But often, it’s not about doing more.
It’s about finding where the pattern started and addressing it there.
